ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The FIA on Thursday filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Islamabad High Court's decision in the cipher case that freed the PTI founder Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

The petition states that the IHC acquitted PTI founder and leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the cipher case, despite the prosecution providing both evidence and forensic proof during the trial.

The petition contends that the High Court's judgment did not specify the grounds for acquittal. Moreover, the judgment didn't indicate that the prosecution failed to prove its case. It maintains that the High Court did not give proper consideration to the prosecution's proof.

The FIA petitioned that the Supreme Court declare the High Court's June 3 judgment in the cipher case null and void.
